About the book

Use Belly Breathing to blow the bubbles bigger and bigger!
The Bubble Book was written to introduce and excite my preschool classroom about Belly Breaths in a fun, interactive experience. We use these Belly Breaths as a tool to get our bodies calm and settled after a rough moment on the playground, before nap time, or just to get feeling good again. Belly Breaths are an important first step towards emotion regulation and mindfulness. They bring more oxygen to the brain so we can process what is happening and think more clearly. I use this book to introduce the term “Belly Breaths” to my kiddos in a fun and interactive way. Then, when the time comes, I can say, “Remember the Belly Breaths? Let’s give them a try!”

It goes like this

Bio

I’ve always gravitated towards children. It just happens naturally, but I know why. I hate to break it to you, adult, reading this, but children are the truly most awesome of us all! This desire gave me nearly 9 years of nannying experience while I studied and pursued my passion for teaching ballroom dance. With a lot going on in life (like most of us), I became interested in learning more about mindfulness and meditation. I took courses, read books, and journaled. I was hooked and determined to spread it in every corner of my life. After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a focus on early childhood education, interning as school counselor and family focused therapist, I began my role as a preschool teacher. Story time was especially my favorite part of the day. Maybe it’s because I loved the calm it brought. Since I had a classroom of 2-3 year-olds, I looked for books that simply introduced mindfulness and calming tools to use for this sometimes chaotic learning time of our lives. I didn’t have much luck. So, my thought went like this, “I bet, yes, yes, I could make one!” and then I got all excited, grabbed a blue marker and stack of paper, and soon evolved my very first book, “The Bubble Book.” Turns out my kids loved it! I found it to be a great activity in multiple scenarios, so I decided to turn it to the rest of the world. I have pages full of ideas for more ways to introduce these very important tools to the very busy bodies of children. I truly hope you enjoy them and they bring bountiful benefits to your lives! Also, I love kombucha! :)

Growing Mindfulness

It’s easy to think of the children in our lives as busy bodies, scurrying to the next thing after thing. This doesn’t mean they always like it this way. When calm, slow moments happen to happen, children definitely appreciate it. They just maybe don’t know how to say it. Pay attention the next time you have a calm experience. Notice how their demeanor changes. You can try this simple exercise with your child/children and let me know how it goes for you!
